How Can I open a checking account when my husband ruined my credit?
my soon to be EX husband wrote bounced checks and opened different acc’ts in 7 different banks. Two of which were in his and my name also. Now the banks closed the acc’ts and WE owe money to them..How can “I” open one, most banks do a credit check on you so I will show up as BAD.
My answer:
Most Banks (about 80%) will also run a Chexsystems report in addition to a credit report, and if a record shows up in your name they will not open an account for you for a period of five years. When something like this happens, you can dispute it by contacting chexsystems but… that doesn’t guarantee they will let you off the hook.
1st step is: to contact Chexsystems and get a copy of your record, then take your time and prepare a well thought out explanation of what happened to get you into this situation (remember to document everything) unfortunately everybody sings the same song “it wasn’t my fault” BE DIFFERENT back up your story with proof and documentation act professional not emotional.
2nd : Getting a reversal may take a long time and it’s easy to end up at check cashing stores and paying huge fees just to get your check cashed, and driving all over town to pay your bills or buying expensive money orders, because you don’t have a checking account… not to mention it can be unsafe to carry large amounts of cash on you.
To avoid all of this, open a bank account with a prepaid debit card, be sure to get one that offers FREE direct deposits so your paycheck can be deposited to your MasterCard or Visa and you can pay bills and get cash at ATM’s while your disputing your Chexsystems record and fixing your banking troubles.

By the way the fee is $5 a month… way cheaper then any check cashing store i’ve ever seen.
I was surfing the net today looking at the prepaid debit cards out there for people on chexsystems or with bad credit and even no credit. Wow… some people will stop at nothing to make a profit off you when you’re down. Some of these companies want $10… ten bucks a month and they charge you every time you put money on your card… then they whack you every time you use the card.
All of this seems a little overboard to me now that I have an Espree Card MasterCard with free direct deposits and just a $5.00 monthly fee. If you need a bank and you’re on chexsystems this one is worth a try.
I’m always amazed when I see somebody making tons of money online for doing almost nothing. I’ve been watching this guy in the UK make $500 to $1,000 a day with FREE Blogs.

I’ve been looking for a cell phone plan for quite awhile now. But not just any old cell plan. After all anybody can walk into Verizon or Cingular and pay that big fat deposit. they think they desereve.. wow! Somewhere along the line cell phone companies have decided that a big part of the country is expendable.
If you don;t have a tripple A credit rating you’re ment to be taken advantage of and charged out the A## for services that most folks take for granted. Things like cashing your paycheck, buying a car, renting a hotel room or booking a flight on the net.
Ok, i’m rambling (I do that) anyways, once you walk away from the people at Verizon, Cingular and the likes there’s not too much out there (cell phone wise) oh sure they sell the tracfone, Virgin mobile and all the pre paid phones. But did you ever look at the prices they charge per minute and all those fees. The minutes expire, they have surcharges, no free nights and week end minutes and you have to buy those stupid cards with surcharges to get more minutes, and god help you if you ever roam.
I pretty much look at those plans as burning money. So I figured a deposit was the deal. But about two weeks ago some friends and I were knocking back a few when the conversation turned to yep… cell phones. What a bitch session that was… you should of been there. Then my buddy Tom says he has horrible credit and he has a great cell plan… sure you do because you paid a big ass deposit. Nope he chimes “I didn’t Pay ANY deposit… NONE!!!”
Since we pushed him I guess he felt he had to defend his plan… I get free nights and week ends starting at 7:00 PM, I paid no deposit there’s no contract (I can cancel anytime) and I get a fair rate plan… yeah but whos the coverage with grandpas corner store and trailer park gift shop? And it only goes halway round the block? We were all laughing pretty good (well we were drinking just a bit)then he shut us all up when he said… I have Verizon just like you guys with good credit.
Frankly I thought he was feeding us full of it. So, I checked it out.. he wasn’t; there really is a plan with Verizon or Sprint that will give you a cell phone with no credit check, no deposits, no contract and free nights and weekends starting at 7:00 oclock at night. Using a pre paid debit card is a great way to rebuild your credit. Sometimes when we lose a bank account we tend to let our bills slip a little. Well there’s another chapter in the Drama packed life of Paris Hilton.
It seems that in California the law isn’t really the law… it appears; if you want to change the law you just send a few emails and just like that you got a different sentence… WOW!
Lets see 1st she gets jail time, and she’s handed over to the sheriff. It’s determined that she has a medical condition that makes jail time unsafe for her… hummm… anyway…
She’s put on house arrest and sent home. The media plasters it all over the news and causes a flood of calls and emails to the DA and just like that she’s back in front of a judge now ordered to serve the “FULL” sentence… WAIT a dog-gone minute why is her sentence EXTENDED for something that’s totally out of her control… did she put herself on house arrest?
Look I’m no Paris Hilton fan but, that’s not the issue here, what is at issue is; the fact that… this time it was totally out of her control. And the drama queens at the D A’s office really should just live up to the deal they made. I guess you can buy a verdict and you don’t really even need money… in California you can do it with the telephone or an email.
Ok so what do Paris Hilton and the drama queens at the D A office have to do with banks and Chexsystems… EVERYTHING! Just like Paris, many hardworking people get into trouble with their checking accounts and often they pay a wicked price (at $35 a check) for those mistakes but after they clean up the mess they should be welcomed back… they made a mistake, they paid for it and made it right.
So why does the bank dump them and file a chexsystems report making it nearly impossible for them to open a new bank account and locking them out of the basic service they need to operate in today’s society?
I’ll tell ya this; you don’t have to put up with that kind of uncaring behavior from a bank and you can guarantee you’ll never “EVER” bounce another check (even by accident) How? By opening an account at Espree; you get free direct deposits and a MasterCard good anywhere in the world plus chexsystems can’t stop you from getting your new account because; frankly my dear Paris they don’t give a dam about chexsystems
